Sharon Clark – Top Regulator

Vantage Point – Kentucky Commissioner of Insurance. Sharon Clark is the Insurance Commissioner for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Commissioner Clark was appointed to the post in 2008 and again in 2012. Prior to becoming Commissioner, she was the first director of the “consumer protection and education division” at the department, a position she held for 5 years. Clark served as the chair of the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange Advisory Board during its inaugural year and continues as a board member. She is also a member of the Kentucky Group Health Insurance Board. On a national level she is the Vice President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. She is also past secretary-treasurer of the National Insurance Producer Registry, Board of Directors and is interim chair of the Surplus Lines Multi-State Compliance Compact. Prior to being appointed Commissioner, she worked at the Kentucky Finance and Administration cabinet. She also held positions for the Kentucky House of Representatives, the Public Service Commission and the former Workforce Development Cabinet. Clark earned both a bachelor and masters degrees from the University of Kentucky.

Adam Hamm – Top Regulator

Vantage Point – North Dakota Commissioner of Insurance. Adam Hamm is Past President of the NAIC, and is now chair it’s Cybersecurity Task Force. He was selected by his fellow insurance commissioners to serve on the U.S. Financial Stability Oversight Council. FSOC is a fifteen member body comprised of the nation’s chief financial regulators, including U.S. Treasury Secretary and Chairman of the Federal Reserve. Adam’s dedication to serve the public began with his work as prosecutor at the Cass County State’s Attorney’s office. Adam prosecuted personal crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, assault, and child physical and sexual abuse. This work gave Adam an understanding of what it takes to protect the public. He has also worked as an attorney in private practice advcating for North Dakota businesses and individuals. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and received his JD from the University of North Dakota School of Law. A native of Jamestown, Adam, and family now live in Bismarck, ND.

Barry Goldwater Jr – Top Executive

Vantage Point – Goldwater Taplin Group! Former congressman Barry Goldwater, Jr. served in Washington for 14 years, representing the congressional district in north Los Angeles County, California. He was born on July 15th, 1938, son of Barry and Margaret Goldwater. He graduated from the Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia in 1957. Attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado and graduated from Arizona State University in 1962. He worked as a stockbroker, public relations executive and in the import-export business before being elected to Congress in 1969. Since leaving public office in 1983 he has remained very active in a wide variety of political and business pursuits including Goldwater-Taplin Group which offers a wide array of professional services for the insurance industry in every U.S. State and Washington, DC.

Mike Rothman – Top Regulator

Vantage Point – Minnesota Commissioner of Insurance. Mike Rothman is responsible for consumer protection and regulation of a broad range of industries in Minnesota (insurance, state-chartered banks, credit unions, securities, real estate, franchises, collection agencies, currency exchanges, Public Utilities Commission, natural gas and electric public utilities, energy conservation standards, low-income home energy assistance and weatherization, telephone companies, telecommunications Access Minnesota, petrofund, and unclaimed property programs. Previously Mr. Rothman was an attorney in private practice in Minneapolis. He began his career as a law clerk for the MN Court of Appeals. He also graduated from and is a former adjunct professor of insurance law at the University of Minnesota Law School.

Sandy Praeger – Top Regulator

Vantage Point – Former Kansas Insurance Commissioner. Sandy Praeger was Kansas Insurance Commissioner from 2002-15. She also served as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners in 2008. Previously she served in the Kansas Senate from 1992-2000, and before that one term in the Kansas House of Representatives. While in the legislature, she worked to gain passage of patient protection laws, external review of health plans and insurance, and the Kansas expansion of children’s health insurance. In 2001 she led the successful campaign for mental health parity in Kansas. She served as mayor of Lawrence from 1986-87, and she served on the Lawrence City Commission from 1985-89. She is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Dr. Nathan B. Davis Award, bestowed annually by the American Medical Association. AARP and the Kansas Wildlife Federation have recognized Praeger as their “legislator of the year”. The Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved also recognized her leadership on health care access issues. She was also recognized by The Center for Populations Options for legislation she sponsored in 1994 to create teen pregnancy prevention programs in Kansas. Her community involvement includes the United Way of Douglas County Board of Directors, and she is a founding member of three local boards: Health Care Access, Haskell Indian Nations University Foundation and C.A.S.A. (an organization dedicated to helping children who come under the jurisdiction of the court).  Praeger is a graduate of the University of Kansas. She lives in Lawrence with her husband, Dr. Mark Praeger.
